When it comes to TikTok, the number of questions is practically infinite. This social media site is frequently discussed in the rumor mill, either in reference to a new feature or to a controversial topic.
One such issue, where users are unable to upload videos to the platform, has recently been making the rounds on the internet and it is understandable too. When you put in all of your efforts and your work doesn’t get uploaded to the site, it can be really frustrating!
So, before anybody completely loses their cool over this issue, let’s get to the meat of the matter.
In today’s blog, I’ll provide answers to another frequently asked question (and I promise it will be the best you can find online ;)). So if you’ve ever wondered, “Why won’t TikTok let me post?”. I’ve just written this article just for you!
Why Won’t TikTok Let Me Post
If you’re unable to upload to TikTok, it’s likely because of one of the following: you haven’t cleaned the cache, your video infringes copyrights, the TikTok server is down, you’re connected to a VPN, or your account is shadowbanned.
Now, I will be diving into each of these reasons and understand them better!
Clogged Up TikTok Cache
Cache files are temporary data stored by an app in its memory to improve the application’s performance and to speed up page loads when you revisit a previously visited page.
Cache data can accumulate in memory over time, slowing down your device and possibly causing it to malfunction in other ways, such as preventing you from uploading videos to the platform.
So it is absolutely essential that you regularly clear the TikTok app cache in order to maintain its maximum productivity. It will also reduce the storage in your phone.
When it comes to actually doing it, wiping your TikTok cache is a breeze. Here are the simple steps to take:
Clearing TikTok application cache directly from the app:
Step #1 — Login to your TikTok account and tap on the TikTok Profile icon in the bottom right of your screen.
Step #2 — Next, tap on the hamburger button (3-line icon) on the top right of your screen.
Step #3 — Now, tap the Settings and Privacy option.
Step #4 — Lastly, tap on the Clear Cache button and get rid of those temporary files!

Copyright Issues
The worst strategy to gain fame on TikTok is to copy or simply share the hard work of others or just directly download TikTok videos of other creators and upload it from your account.
TikTok values and promotes the content of those content creators who use the right strategies and put a lot of effort into making it.
Your profile will be flagged on the platform and you won’t be able to post TikTok videos if you use someone else’s copyrighted work, such as unlicensed music, specific hashtags, TV shows, YouTube videos, movies, and other similar copyrighted media, without that person’s permission or without a justifiable legal reason.
Looking for the right solution here? Well, don’t steal anyone else’s work or use their ideas without their permission, and credit them where it’s due.
Account Is Shadowbanned
The next potential explanation for why you can’t do a TikTok post is that you have been temporarily suspended, a.k.a shadowbanned, from the platform.
Let’s talk about the most likely explanations for this situation. Your profile could have been banned for a number of reasons, including but not limited to: breaking TikTok’s community guidelines; using a virtual private network; advertising illegal goods; engaging in suspected bot activity, or simply being a new TikTok user.
How can one get unshadowbanned from TikTok, you wonder? Check out this blog for a more thorough answer!
VPN Is Turned On
Using a VPN on your TikTok account is undoubtedly one of the key tactics that will help you understand the specific trends and what is effective in other countries.
However, TikTok sternly forbids the usage of VPN on TikTok accounts because users commit online crimes and otherwise abuse the site.
Therefore, if your VPN is active, that is likely why your account has been shadowbanned and you are unable to post videos to the platform.
So, what steps should one take? You only need to make sure that you aren’t using a VPN on your main account, which is a pretty simple fix. Create a second account on the platform, use it to conduct all of your strategic research, and keep your primary account secure!
Video Violates Community’s Guidelines
TikTok wants its platform to be more than simply another social media network, one that people of any age can use without being concerned about being negatively influenced by it.
For precisely this reason, TikTok has a thorough list of rules posted on the platform that it wants users to abide by and respect.
It is rather typical for the platform to prevent such videos from being posted on the platform and this can even result in “shadowbanning” of the user’s profile if any videos on the platform violate these rules and regulations. You might notice, your content must not be getting any views.
Now, the solution is quite easy if you don’t want TikTok to prevent you from posting on the platform. Make sure the following isn’t in any of your TikTok videos:
- Dangerous acts and challenges.
- Nudity or promoting of sexual activity.
- TikTok content that encourages suicide or self-harm.
- Harassment and bullying.
- Hateful language.
- Violent graphics and/or content that promotes or encourages violence.
- Using abusive language.
- Featuring the use of banned weapons or showcasing illegal activities.
- Copyright and trademark infringement.

Bad Internet Connection
The most common yet simplest cause of your TikTok video not being uploaded is a poor or bad internet connection.
When you upload videos, it will display an error message or flash a notification that the video upload has failed if your internet connection is down.
In this case, all you need to do is switch off your mobile data, then turn it back on. Alternatively, you can change your WiFi network and try posting the TikTok video again after refreshing your TikTok. By then, the problem ought to be resolved!
Outdated App
TikTok’s meteoric rise to the top ranks of social media platforms can be owed, in no little part, to its appetite for rolling out new updates and features that keep the users hooked on it.
If you haven’t updated your app in a while, that could explain why you can’t make posts. Even this happens sometimes with me, I just forget to update apps.
As for the how-to, updating the app is a breeze. If you want to update your TikTok app, all you have to do is go to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, type in “TikTok,” and hit the update button.
Be sure to check the tab for updates frequently and take advantage of the added features that pop up on the platform!
Issue With TikTok Server
If you’ve eliminated the abovementioned possibilities and are still having trouble, it may be because the TikTok server is experiencing technical difficulties or is down.
You have a few ways to solve this: restart the app, delete the cache, or simply wait for the app to work correctly once again.
If none of that works, just get in touch with TikTok support and raise a ticket about it!
Now that you know what to do and what not to do on this short video platform, you’re ready to wow the world with your skills in just 15 seconds!
