Have you ever been scrolling through your Instagram feed or Explore feed, only to be intrigued by the bizarre selection of “Model related content” appearing on your Explore page?
But how does this social media platform manage to keep up with the billions of users and their ever-changing interests? Why does this platform think you’re interested in that particular niche? And most importantly, how does it all work?
Buckle up, I’m going to dive deep into the intriguing world of suggested posts and content!
Why Is My Instagram Explore Page Full Of Models?
The reason your explore page has multiple models is because of the Instagram algorithm. Before suggesting content, the Instagram algorithm takes into account a wide range of your user activity, including the accounts you follow, the posts and content you interact with, and the hashtags you use, among others.
Now I will be getting into the nitty-gritty of each of these key contributors:
1. Instagram Accounts You Follow
One of the most obvious reasons is that you follow models on the platform; consequently, the Instagram algorithm recommends Instagram models’ profiles to you that it believes are relevant to your interests.
2. Post Interaction
This is yet another significant reason; it refers to the posts and accounts (called “seed accounts”) that you have interacted with before.
It indicates that in the past you have liked, commented on, or interacted in some other way with some model-related Instagram posts or Instagram reels, or even Instagram stories; as a result, Instagram is suggesting profiles to you based on these types of interactions.
3. Similar Hashtags and Captions
Sometimes, either intentionally or unintentionally, you use Instagram hashtags that are used the majority of the time by models on the platform.
It’s possible that some of the captions, keywords, and hashtags they’ve been using match with what you’ve been using, and this is the reason why Instagram thinks that they should fall into your sphere of interest.
How Do I Get My Explore Page Back To Normal On Instagram?
Are you concerned that someone might view your Instagram explore page and form inaccurate opinions? Does it offer content suggestions for things that you would rather not see on your explore grid? I hear you, so don’t worry.
I’ve compiled all the best techniques for quickly resetting Instagram’s explore page and returning it to normal!
1. Select “Show fewer posts similar to this”
So, this is a fairly simple way to tell Instagram what you want to see on your Explore and what you don’t.
To quickly remove posts from your explore section that you are not interested in, follow these simple steps:
Step #1 — Open Instagram app and click on the “Magnifying Glass (a.k.a Instagram Explore Tab)” icon on the bottom of your screen
Step #2 — Select the post that you want to remove from your Explore feed
Step #3 — Tap on the “Three Dots” on the right-hand side of your screen
Step #4 — Now, tap on “Not Interested”
Step #5 — It’s doneee! You’ll see a message appear on your screen saying that “You’ll see fewer posts like this”
Additional steps for more filtration:
In order to further narrow your Explore Page, you can go to “Don’t suggest posts with certain words” and enter a list of relevant keywords (such as “models,” “fashion,” and so on).
2. Reset the explore page
Here’s another quick and simple approach to restoring your Instagram explore feed to its “factory reset” state!
The most effective method is to delete your Instagram search history, as Instagram uses this data to determine the types of posts and Instagram users you like and then recommends content and profiles to you. Therefore, deleting your search history will enable you to restart Instagram’s algorithm!
To completely clear search history on the platform, just follow these simple steps:
Step #1 — Open your Instagram and tap on the “Profile Icon” on the bottom right of your screen
Step #2 — Tap on “Your Activity” option
Step #3 — Now, go to “Recent Searches”
Step #4 — Next, tap on “Clear All” on the top right of your screen
Step #5 — Lastly, tap “Clear All” once again and all your search feature data will be cleared!
What Does Your Instagram Explore Page Say About You
When it comes to your Instagram explore page, I’d say it is like your virtual bulletin board, showcasing all the things you love and care about, and giving you a sneak peek into your interests.
Like a mirror image of yourself, but with a dash of algorithm magic, your Instagram Explore page displays content that is both relevant to you and interesting to you based on your profile and previous activity.
The Instagram videos, posts and accounts that show up on your Explore page are handpicked by Instagram’s algorithm based on your past activity, including the accounts you follow, the posts you like, the hashtags you use, and more.
So, whether you’re a foodie who can’t resist drooling over pictures of juicy burgers or a fitness enthusiast who’s always looking for the next workout challenge, your Explore feed is sure to have something that speaks to you.
Not only does your Explore page offer a glimpse into your interests and hobbies, but it can also serve as a springboard for new ideas and discoveries, whether be it trends, hacks, or anything else!
In my opinion, it’s a great way to broaden your circle of Instagram friends and keep up with more posts that pique your interest, as well as to find new accounts you might not have come across otherwise.
Now that you know how your Instagram followers, who you follow, your interactions with Instagram influencers and creators, and the content you interact with on Instagram all contribute to the content you see on your Explore page, you can stop stressing and start tailoring your Explore feed according to your choice!
